Yes, he armored it himself. One foot concrete slabs sandwiched between two layers of one-inch steel plate. The police tried several different methods of increasingly powerful gunfire and apparently some kind of explosive. Nothing worked. After almost two hours of destruction his radiator failed, and he shot himself.
